According to the “town charts” article, students with the zip code, 02907 have the highest portion of black and African American's. They also have the largest portion of non-citizens under the age of 18. The article so indicates that they have the higher percentage rate of high school graduates in this area. There are fewer individuals who earned their bachelors or associate degree. However, they have a large percentage of individuals employed and only a small portion of who are unemployed.

As I was exploring the “town chart” article, I noticed that most of the houses are family homes.
Meaning more than two families live in the household.

Play Box

PLAYBOX

As my partner and I were planning the activity we thought about the different ways everyone learns.
This is why we planned a powerpoint for the visual learners, led hands-on activities, and provided handouts. (article)

I enjoyed leading the activity for the class because everyone was engaged. While everyone wassharing their answers, and participating in the breathtaking activity that was led by my partner. I enjoyed listening
to all the different answers everyone shared for the first activity with the cards. Everyone seemed like they enjoyed hearing their response, and listening to what others had to say. The second activity was “mindful breathing exercises. Towards the end of our playbox, our classmates shared that not everyone was concentrating on the mindful breathing activity. I thanked them for the feedback because they helped us think of different strategies to use. Also, if I was to do the activity again I would make sure to role play
before leading the activity. Role-playing, before the activity, helps with time managing every task and
helps you be more prepared.

Black Lives Matter

Black Lives Matter

If I had to explain “Black Lives Matter” to a young person first I will state that Black Lives Matter, is as an organization. The organization was created in 2013, to create awareness about violence and racism towards black people. After I will share terms to think of when they hear Black Lives Matter, such as race and equality. Equality, because people who are part of the Black lives matter movement are fighting for equality by coming together and using their voice to create change. Race, because African American's are not being valued in our society and this is one of the reasons it started. Individuals who are part of it are also fighting for their human rights, racism, and police violence. The purpose of it is to create change and awareness of what is happening to black lives.
Is the black lives matter movement creating violence?

Questions
What activities can we do to help the youth understand black lives matter?
What age should the youth learn about “black lives matter”?
